My Autoset has been fine. Nothing like what you are reporting. I hardly ever touch the power button; auto-on starts it up when I put the mask on and auto stops (cooldown) when I take it off in the morning. Ask the DME for a different unit of the same model, my opinion.
The important part is to keep at it!
