2 years of CPAP usage - mask replacement

2 years of CPAP usage - mask replacement
Hello !

It's been 2 years and a couple of months since I have started using CPAP. I am using the same  Philips soft gel nasal mask since 2 years. Do I need to replace it? The head strap has gone bad (the Velcro does not stick anymore) and I was thinking of replacing the mask along with the strap.

Do you have suggestions on Nasal Pillow? Is it easy moving from Nasal mask to Nasal pillow?

Regards,
sskblr

The move from nasal mask to nasal pillow couldn't be easier. CPAP air is delivered more directly via a lighter interface with nasal pillows, and there is less chance of leaks due to the very small sealing surface at the base of your nose (nares). It also avoids irritation at the bridge of the nose, but some people have temporary irritation of the nares where the makes contact. This usually passes quickly, but some members have recommended using Lansinoh cream.

I think in some cases the head gear comes with the appropriate mask and cushion, so if you need to replace the headgear, and it sounds like it, then you'll also get the mask.  At least, that's what I'm pretty sure my supplier told me when I inquired, now almost two years ago.

However, you do have to replace the head gear.  It would make abundant sense to retire the old mask, keep it safe for a spare (it still seals, looks right, and smells right....right?), and get a new one.  I'm in the very same position, a mask within three months of two full years, it still looks and works like new, and I'm thinking 'What the heck....time for a new one."
