Thanks Zonk
I would have bought locally too, but as I began researching the different models available I found Supplier #10 and read on their home page that they will post ResMed S9s to Australia, so I ordered through them. Something to be aware of when ordering anything with a value or combined value of over $1000.00 as my order was, because of the machine, a mask and a US to Aus plug adaptor, it will be held up in Customs and you will need to fill out a declaration form which can be very complicated. I took the option of having a customs broker fix it up for me, but with his fee, customs fee and the $7 odd dollars for GST and $3 something for duty, it added another $150, but still a bargain compared to Australian prices

RE: Sleep Study price range
I've read some people to avoid paying GST ... They would split the order if its over the $1000 limit
CPAP is a medical equipment and GST exempt (B124) http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page5350.asp#e938

RE: Sleep Study price range
The GST and duty was only payable on the plug adaptor and a bottle of cleaning solution and as you say, the machine and mask don't attract GST.
