Lee I don't know that I would cap the hose during the day. Yes, it keeps bugs out, but it also stops the hose getting properly dry, and could eventually encourage mould. Depending where you live, the likelihood of bugs actually going inside the hose is pretty small - I've never seen it in over 6 years.

Just pop the hose in a cotton draw string bag it will breath and keep bugs out
