40.14 AHI with the Resmed airsense 10, need some advice please
#11
OK, It does have a card. That's what I had to take in to the doctor every week when I first got it. I'll upload the data and see what it says.

Also, I'll download that manual and make the changes if I can. Thank you so much for your help and I'll get back tomorrow and let you know how it went.

Hello again, I just thought I'd add the S9 data from its SD card. It would appear that my problem is with the new machine. It looks like my S9 data was pretty good. I think it says it was set at 5-15? Is that correct? I wonder why they set my new machine to 4-20. Anyway, let me know what you see out of this and if you think it was pretty good on the S9.

4-20 are the default settings built into the machine. They didn't "set" anything. 4-20 is wrong for nearly everybody, especially the lower end. You should raise that at least to six, but not necessarily all at once. Bring it up a half centimetre of water over two weeks or so until you get to a low end of 6, at least.

To set the pressure yourself, hold the "home" button and the round dial down together for about 5 seconds. The "clinician's" menu will appear. You have a perfect right to adjust your own pressures, in fact my DME told me how to get into the "clinicians" menu when they gave me the machine. Just don't move it too much up or down too fast. A half CM is about right, then wait to get comfortable with that. If you don't get comfortable with it after a week or so you may want to put it back down.

No one cares about you as much as you care about you, so take care of yourself.

Richflu,

There is something that I think needs attention before making a bunch of pressure changes or EPR changes.

First, are you using the same mask with the A10 as with the S9? Your leaks with the A10 are not good and that may be affecting your AHI. It also may be affecting the machine's ability to determine the type of apnea which might be causing the CAs to be higher than they really are.

Best Regards,

PaytonA

Basically the same mask. The Resmed Nasal Pillow. It does look slightly different but I'm guessing that it's just this years model of nasal pillow has a bit of an update from last year. When I say basically there is one difference. With the new machine I switched from the head gear to the ear straps. For me, the ear loops are much more comfortable and the mask ironically seems to fit tighter. Obviously though something isn't right with the air leaks. Could it be my mouth dropping open and that being the source of the air leak? Thought I read that on the MYAIR site that the jaw dropping open is an air leak source. Should I try adding the chin strap? I don't have one but can pick one up from the med equipment store.

Hi, Richflu. Are you talking about the Bella Headgear for the Swift FX nasal pillows?

Looking at graphs from SleepyHead would give a better idea of what exactly your leaks look like (for example, if they correlate with your max pressures).

I know it's no fun to go back to an old mask when you have a new one that's comfortable, but using your old mask for a couple of nights would let you see if the leaks are happening with it as well.

Sticking with the new mask, looking at graphs, and buying a chin strap if necessary is also an option. I'm probably suggesting trying the old mask because I hate chin straps. Smile

There is something wrong with either the S9 data or sleepyhead reading it, look at all the zeros (pressure), they show up right as the AHI starts going down

Your first 2 CA readings are the same as on the S10 and then they go away along with the pressure. Is the pressure gone, the s9 data messed up, or sleepyhead not displaying it correctly? Do you have the latest sleephead installed?

OK, I'll try using the old mask tonight *sigh*
The new one is much better. You are correct too, it's a ResMed Swift FX Bella Gray. Also, I made an appointment with my Dr but it's not until next Monday. Plus I'm sure she will refer me to the sleep clinic but I gotta start somewhere.

I tried re uploading the SD card from the S9 and it didn't change anything. I downloaded the sleepyhead program just a couple days ago so I assume it's the most recent. Also, I think I have enough posts now to show you the graphs if you'd like but I'm not sure how to upload them. I've been looking around and trying to figure that out but to no avail. Can you point me in that direction as well please. Thanks, and let me know what graphs would be most useful to see and I'll try to upload them for you.

It is easiest if you use an outside source like imgur to upload data.
