8 weeks in - a few questions

RE: 8 weeks in - a few questions

3. My AHI index jumps all over the place. One night a 2, the next night a 10. I monitor whether it's affected by having a glass of wine with dinner, or having had a stressful day at work, or getting up to use the bathroom more than once, and I can't find any correlation.

Hello.

I got only 2 more weeks than you with CPAP. I got similar questions about the AHI correlation.
I will tell you what I think about myself. Remember that we are not equal and what is good or apply for one is bad or doesn't apply for another. I don't have any medical education.

My high AHI I think is related with:
1-Leaks. High leaks= high AHI.
2-Sleeping position. Laying in my back (I like this position) I got high AHI.
3-Dry mouth (meaning I breath with my mouth open, I got a FFM).

I really think that your next appointment in 6 month is way to much time for your second appointment. I got my first appointment in 2 month of CPAP use and my DR. changed a little bit my prescription and the change results has been better (nothing spectacular, but a little bit better). I got my second appointment in two months.

Keep going and good luck with your therapy and life.
Ralph.

Hi Ralph - Thanks for the feedback. I think the biggest correlation I can find is sleeping on my back. Even though it's the most comfortable position for me, if I force myself to sleep on my side the numbers seem to go down.

Helpful to have this forum to navigate the mysteries of CPAP world! It's not like the doctors or the medical providers spend much time helping you figure it all out. Good luck to you! Jane
