90 compliance report
I have my 1st DOT physical in the morning and I requested and received my compliance report today. Lots of info on here that has me a bit confused. When I was forced to submit to the sleep test the testing clinic said I had moderate to severe apnea but the results of my compliance report doesnt seem to show that.
Usage days - 82/90 (91%)
Median usage (days used) -7hrs 1 min
Leaks-L/min median: 23.0 95th percentile: 41.0 maximum: 51.9
Events per hour AI: 0.0 HI: 0.1 AHI 0.1
Apnea index central: 0.0 obstructive: 0.0 unknown: 0.0
RERA index 0.1
Cheyne-strokes respiration(average duration per night) 0 minutes(0%)
I think thats all the important data, if I missed something let me know and I'll try to find it. I would really like to know if my doubts about needing this treatment are founded. I would really love put this machine in the closet and get back to sleeping at night.
Thx
RE: 90 compliance report
If your machine is working properly you will have fewer than 5 events per hour. Doesn't mean you don't have sleep apnea, just means the machine is working properly. Bringing your events down is what it is supposed to do. Your sleep test gives you your situation when not under treatment from the machine.

RE: 90 compliance report
Those are your numbers as treated by CPAP. Without it, it would be as your original sleep report says.
DOT will be looking at:
Usage days - 82/90 (91%)
Median usage (days used) -7hrs 1 min
That's what's needed by DOT to show compliance and keep your medical cert.
RE: 90 compliance report
So Im condemned to using this machine that keeps me up all night? The only time I sleep anymore are the nights i dont use cpap or when I take a nap. Quality of life truely sucks because of this, think its time to change jobs and tell the government to go to hell
RE: 90 compliance report
Sleep apnea is a serious medical problem, and if you abandon treatment you will be harming your health. I think that most of us who use CPAP machines had some difficulty adapting to the mask at first. I have used CPAP/BIPAP for about 28 years now and there is no way that I will ever abandon treatment so long as I live. It has made a big improvement in my life, and yes, it was hard to adjust to using it at first. But never lose sight of the fact that the apnea is not a condition to ignore.

RE: 90 compliance report
I have a CDL class A and am a Line Driver for a National freight company. I took myself off work last year because of a couple medical issues and thought these issues were one of the reasons I was so tired and sleepy all the time. Really started to struggle with sleepiness while driving. It was only recently that I had a sleep study done and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. As a result I now know why I've struggled and am on my second week with a CPAP machine.
I am hopeful that I will respond and have a chance to resume my driving but am realistic that I may have to give it up and change careers. I think quite a few medical clinics are now requiring CDL holders to get the sleep study if they meet certain measurements. Neck size / obesity etc. DOT rules " do not " require this but these medical providers / clinics are now covering their butts by not certifying CDL holders until a sleep test is complete. I think DOT will end up requiring all CDL holders in the future to get the test done at some point.
RE: 90 compliance report
The problem here is i slept fine before and was never tired. I didnt get any of the symptoms of so called sleep apnea untill i was put on this sadistic machine. 6 months into treatment and i feel worse every day. When the government forces you to give money to someone in the private sector you are being scammed
RE: 90 compliance report
Aintsleeping: you should give it some time. Most people have a rough time at first. There are long haul drivers who have machines in their sleeper berth.
I'm no fan of the government. I think in the future, CPAP is coming for class C drivers too.
We already have to buy a product from the private sector -- ObamaCare.
