A.H.I. With Hose Off Mask & Machine Running
Howdy,
I wake up at night for a rest-room calls. I do not turn off my machine as I just Pull off my Hose From My Full Face Mask.

Does this affect the machine or A.H.I.? . Which I do not fully understand yet.

Is there a list of what the abbreviations stand for on this very, very help-full site.

I would turn off the machine ... high leak affect the machine scoring any events accurately

AHI stand for: Apnea Hypopnea Index ... see Glossary for term definition
S9 data management guide: http://www.resmed.com/au/assets/document...ow_eng.pdf

Download links for ResScan and SleepyHead

Prairie, I turn mine off, sometimes take the mask off, sometimes leave it on, then get back and turn it back on and then plug the hose in. If you have the Ramp feature turned on, it starts again that way. In the software it appaers as a gap.

It shouldn't matter, but turn it off any way. Some people have reported their machine gets buggy if you take the mask off and let it run too long, and it may screw up the data needed for your insurance.

Get the free SleepyHead software here.
Useful links.
Click here for information on the main alternative to CPAP.
If it's midnight and a DME tells you it's dark outside, go and check it yourself.

False AHIs would be a big problem over here in UK. You have to prove you are consistently hitting low numbers per hour or they take your drivers licence away.

No question asked about AHI numbers on the form which I've to submit to traffic dept, just the doctor have to tick the right boxes that sleep apnea being treated and fit to drive with no restrictions

Anyway I,m trying to get rid the car with petrol prices keep going up and cannot park anywhere without being fined or pay a toll
