RE: A Lost Cause?
There's a low hrs VAuto for sale on CPAP talk for $599 - owner just 'bumped' the thread so may be open to a lower offer - thread is called "New (Almost) AirCurve 10 VAUTO...For Sale"

So, the Airsense seems like a good stopgap to continue improving treatment while I wait, and hopefully convince my sleep doctor of the right choice. Figure that will take half a year or more to happen.

Way it appears to me is that the clinic relies on the APAP to do the bulk of the diagnosis but then they don't follow through with it. (I was given the most minimal home sleep test, diagnosed and scripted.  Perhaps this is a more general problem than mine alone?) The rub is that they have all this data from my PR APAP but seem very reluctant to look at or analyze once they have it.

PS:  I am scripted for the APAP but trust that cannot be used to get a BPAP?

There is a VAuto currently for sale on cpap-talk

Thanks Rob.  Yes, I went to that post and (after some difficulty) posted my interest in purchase but my post doesn't appear and I'm thwarted in my other attempt to contact.  Apparently new members aren't permitted to contact old members privately.

Any suggestions?

No, unfortunately.  I finally did manage to jump through all the hoops, but too late.

Thanks to everyone here for the notification.  I appreciate it.

Thanks for your several notifications, jaswilliams. Much appreciated, sorry I didn't reply before now.  I did buy the "smoker" and am awaiting its arrival, probably mid-week.  Looking forward to the next chapter of this story with a Vauto.

RE: A Lost Cause?
I have restored machines used in a smoking household. I use a cotton ball sprayed with Ozium, and allow the vapor to be taken into the machine. In most cases this significantly reduces the smoke odor. It is usually necessary to replace any silicone seals in the humidifier connector and outlet to get the best results. Ozium Air Sanitizer contains isoproanol, triethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol which you should avoid inhaling in any concentrated form, however it does react with the tars and smoke odors in a contaminated machine and is antibacterial to help sanitize.
