RE: APAP results
Desertscorpion, you most likely need the ASV, and we have a Wiki on how to justify the advanced PAP machines with your doctor and insurance http://www.apneaboard. com/wiki/index.php?title=Justifying_Advanced_PAP_Machines Unfortunately, you have a very high insurance deductible, so be aware these machines sometimes come up through alternative channels like Craigslist, Offer-up and even the CPAP-Talk forum community. No sales or purchases are allowed on Apnea Board due to our educational status that allows distribution of the CPAP manuals.

To minimize your events until you can obtain ASV, here are my recommendations:
1. Change your machine to CPAP mode with pressure fixed at 7.0 cm, or use Autoset mode with minimum and maximum pressure set to 7.0.
2. Turn off EPR. The different inhale and exhale pressure can make central apnea worse.

Your results will be consistently inconsistent, but hopefully better than before treatment. the use of steady fixed pressure without EPR should help, so let's see what happens.

RE: APAP results
Sleeprider,

Thanks for your input
When Im searching for a machine, is there any particular ASV machine I should be looking for (Resmed Aircurve 10 ASV, for example)? Or any others out there on the market that are any good?
Ill try the lower fixed pressure and turn off the EPR and see what that does in meantime.
Thanks again

RE: APAP results
I would consider the Resmed as first choice based on what I've seen. The Philips BiPAP Auto SV has many more adjustable settings, but the Resmed seems to work better for most. There are a surprising number of forum members using it, perhaps because they come here wondering why CPAP ain't workin'.

RE: APAP results
With Central and mixed apnea it is very very common for your results to behave consistently inconsistent
You will be able to get occasionally very good days and then $#&!?$#@
