Advice
I have OSA. I am told that sometimes during the night, my CPAP machine makes an alarm-type sound which stops when the person next to me wakes me up or shakes me. It can resume or not , it can happen several times during the night and sometimes not at all. Has anyone had that experience? Any explanation of why the machine does that and what it means? Any advice? Thanks. PS: I have no health insurance so ...Dont-know

RE: Advice
Hi Ruby,

Is it maybe one of the causes listed in the "Device Alerts" section here (page 11)?

It's likely a mask alert. You could be having large leaks until you're woken up. Are you maybe pressing your mask into the pillow?

What Paptillian said. I have that same machine (but have recently switched to the REMstar Auto). Aside from hardware failure, that is the only alert I am aware of.

In the Setup screen, what is your setting for "Mask alert" (one of the last menu items)? If you turn it off, it will stop the audible alerts, but no longer stop you from essentially removing the mask in your sleep.

Next time, if you can, see if there is an error code on the screen. If there's not, check the "beep error list" Pap linked to above.
