The bearings for the blower motor are sealed ball bearings.
It sucked the dark soot-like material into the intake; source unknown.
I assume you are joking about the BBQ and gunfire. Nice to know about the sealed ball bearings.
RE: Contamination of air stream by CPAP machine
I asked about the electrical supply thinking that perhaps a barrel capacitor has exploded/leaked and the oily filling had burned. But there is only low power into the machine so that seems very unlikely.
That is a real mystery. Someone trying to poison you?

Filter 1 dirty. Dirt transfer from filter to door cover when removing filter.
Filter 2 goes in and sucks loose dirt from inside surface of filter door.
Filter 2 dirty after 2 weeks and stuff has gotten past or through the filter causing problems with blower.
Filter 3 goes in, and inner surface of filter door is clean so filter stays clean.

Filter #2: You didn't get some kind of "activated charcoal" filter, did you?
Do you have pets?
No pets
Door was not dirty when removed filter one. Filter 2 got dirty in two weeks-much worse than filter 1. Filter 3 is in entirely brand new machine so if this stays clean the problem was not the environment bu the machine.
