[Equipment] water chamber

water chamber
i recently had water on my night night stand from my air sense 10. i determined my water tank has a leak on the seam. upon looking in the bottom i saw black spec's and around the corners of the chamber. i ordered a new tank. this is the second day of use on new tank and this morning i looked and saw black spec's in new tank. i have no idea where it is from. i always use distilled water. i checked hoses, filter is clean. could there by something in air 10 that is breaking down causing my black spec's.  puzzled??????

Hi ifly5! - Welcome

What does your air filter look like? Have you cleaned it recently?

RE: water chamber
Could it be some debris coming from something internal to the machine? Fan, motor? I would highly doubt it. And I'm not sure how you would determine if that was actually the source without a complete disassembly. I suppose you could see if the black spec is attracted to a magnet. That would tell you if it is a ferris metallic material and potentially early mechanical failure.

RE: water chamber
If you do not find anything in your machine to contaminate your water chamber, I think a good cleaning and microwave your  distilled water before dumping into the chamber might be interesting experiment. Microwave it to boil  in a cup and let it cool and dump it into the chamber nothing should survive after that abuse and observe is all I can think of.

RE: water chamber
Are the black specs stuck to the chamber, or are they just loosely floating around?

RE: water chamber
Thanks   i have loose material spec's floating in chamber. i also changed so-clean filter. i got to the inside of so clean filter, looks like charcoal square perforated type, it could be my spec's in  chamber, but i didn't see any in so-lean filter housing. has any body had this so-clean filter problem. Thanks

RE: water chamber
Sounds as if they might be tiny bits & pieces of charcoal.
