Air in stomach after using cpap

RE: Air in stomach after using cpap
I don't see anything to comment on for any changes. Looks good on OSCAR. You are already addressing the leak rate, so I won't bother beating it to death. Congratulations on success, especially on the aerophagia. Keep it up.

It's good to hear how your problem with aerophagia has resolved with time and the use of bilevel, low-pressure therapy and some other tools. Results look good other than leaks which are persistently just below the large leak threshold, and I suspect you are having problems keeping your mouth closed to seal off the air. A chinstrap or mask change may be in your future.

Wow. It looks like you have the same problems I struggled with.

Aerophagia does tend to subside as we adapt to CPAP therapy.

See those large chunks of time on your leak rate graph where the leak rate is elevated? That's a sign that air is leaking out of your mouth. When that happens the CPAP machine can no longer maintain the air splint needed to prevent obstructive apneas. That will ruin your ability to get a good night's sleep. Try a chin strap or soft cervical collar and continue to monitor your leak rate graph. A full face mask is really the best way to treat it.

I had the same problem and found that a full face mask was tolerable for me, when I know it wouldn't have been when I was first starting CPAP therapy. We adapt well and that means something that wouldn't have worked for us in the past will work now. Switching from nasal pillows to a full face mask made huge improvement in my sleep quality. Like you, I struggled to get a good night's sleep and woke too early.
