Air pushed into stomach

Air pushed into stomach
Has anyone figured out a way to keep their CPAP from pushing air down their esophagus into their stomach? Thank you.

RE: Air pushed into stomach
This is commonly called Aerophagia

Some potential fixes:
  • Change sleeping position
  • Elevate head of bed or use a wedge pillow
  • Turn on or increase EPR
  • Lower fixed pressure or cap max pressure. This might result in a less optimised CPAP therapy. If this is the case consider training your body. Lower max pressure to a value that doesn't trigger your aerophagia. Slowly increase the pressure by the minimum increment supported by your machine (0.2 on ResMeds, 0.5 on philips). No hurry, increase once every couple weeks. If your Aerophagia returns go back and wait a few more weeks. Repeat...
