AirFit F20 homemade Mask Liner

RE: AirFit F20 homemade Mask Liner
As promised, here is the updated photo on how I actually have the "sock" positioned on mask for sleeping. Just enough silicon on the top part to prevent it from blowing in my eyes. It works, try it. No more bbrrrppp sounds and no more shutting off pressure to reseal or adjust. Just set and go.

RE: AirFit F20 homemade Mask Liner
Quick update.

This is working much, much better than I had original hoped for or thought it would.

I have had zero incidents of the dreaded bbrrrppppp face farts sounds waking me up in the middle of the night. I have had zero leaks at all come to think of it.

My adjustment straps are now kept at a much more comfortable tension, as I no longer need to constantly keep adjusting it to keep up with leaks or the dreaded bbbrrrpppp.

The sock also feels more comfortable against the skin than the silicon.

I no longer need to use CPAP wipes to clean the mask, just my normal once a week baby shampoo bath for the mask and hose.

One pair of socks has made 6 mask liners. I rotate them and wash them in a lingerie bag with regular laundry.

So, I guess I would highly recommend this easy to do mod to those with the F20 touch or any other masks that may be able to run this mod.

Very nice idea, I've tried it immediately.  No f@rting mask any more, but I noticed the leak rate increases to 30 or more. I can't detect a leak anyway, but my ResMed shows the red frownie.

Just play around with how the sock is on. I found it worked well if the sides and bottom are covered and the top by the nose, not so much. The bridge of the nose is the only area that silicon is touching.
I was able to up pressure by 1.4 and reduce strap tension. You just need to adjust to you find the sweet spot. Much better than the bbrrrppp all night.

Thanks for your fast response. I covered the mask as in the pictures, bit I presume the sock is too thick: it's made of wool ... Will try a thinner one.

Oh yes. The sock I used is a thin sock typical of what you would wear with a suit or business clothes, thinner that even a cotton sport sock style.

Wow! I am really impressed!
When I tried this mask I was able to sleep for about 3-4 hours. I kept hearing mask frts.  The mask was really comfortable.

I'll see if I can get a loaner mask and give it a try again.
I'm using a ResMed N20 and a pad under my chin to keep my mouth shut.

I have tried suggestions from the mask primer, I wash and use cpap wipes, I just have a hard time getting it to seal properly over my cheek area. Funny thing is, if I open my mouth it will stop the leak, however mouth breathing seems counter intuitive.

Anyways, I searched online and came across mask liners but they were very expensive for what they are. So, I decided to try to make my own version last night and see how that would work.

It actually worked much better that I thought it would and I did not have to adjust for that brrppp sound leak at all. First in a while. Strap tension was even just a bit loser than without the liner. I did have a tiny bit of leak around the eyes initially but then moved the cover back more at the top so that there was more silicon available on the nose bridge.

Basically, I took a never used pair of dress socks and cut them into 3 -1/4" tubes and just placed them over the mask as shown in photo.

There was no itching, scratching or annoyance, nothing  It was even out of my visual as well. I did notice that the edge of the material did leave a thin red line where it contacted my face, the same way the straps do.

simple easy mode that might help with some leaking for some people. I figure it must just put enough pressure on the outside silicon walls to keep them from flapping so to speak.

I think I may play around with the sock material. Maybe try a felt or flannel or even some type of nylon or spandex material to see which is better. Perhaps even fold ends over and sew them to make a nicer edge that will not be pron to coming apart once I wash these.

For the price of a pair of socks, it is worth the try compared to what they cost on amazon or elsewhere.

I just got an F20 AirTouch and wonder if anyone has tried the mask liner idea on the AirTouch.

I too use the Airtouch version of this mask. I just changed out a new foam cushion last night after using the last one for probably 4-6 months (lost count). This idea sounds awesome as it will keep the oils off the foam which means I won't have to wash it, hopefully making it last longer!

(yes, I know I'm "supposed" to change it monthly, but that seems like overkill and just a CYA policy from resmed to also help them make more money)
