It's both inhale and exhale. It's a whooshing (?) sound, the sound of breathing. If I cover my ears, I still hear it so it's almost like I'm hearing it from inside, not really an external noise. Sounds so strange but it's what it is. I lowered my pressure and its less but it's still there.

So you're hearing the sound of your own breathing, not the mask? I'm guessing the full face mask seals out your breathing from your hearing so you don't hear your breathing. I'll listen tonight see what I hear.

Yes, I guess it's my own breathing but amplified since I don't hear myself breathing without a mask. I just remembered that the woman in the other group suggested trying a hose cover so I'll try that tonight.

Did you have the chance to listen to yours?

RE: AirFit P10 Headgear Clips
Frapilu, I'm relatively new to CPAP use, about 5 weeks now and I love the P10. I can hear myself breathing but it's a white noise that's seems to help. Switched from the M to the L pillows because of some chaffing but have had 100% compliance. Tried using a CPAP 7 years ago and was given a full face mask which just didn't work for me and thus I gave up. So happy to have given it a second chance (even if it took me 7 years to make the decision). This is now part of my life and I'm fine with it. Still feeling more tired than I had hoped but overall much much better quality of life. Hopefully the tired feeling will get better.

I hope you can make the P10 work for you, good luck.

Hi, I'm glad it's working for you. Normally I'm ok with white noise so I'm not sure why this is bothering me so much. I plan to try it again tonight to see if I can get over it and sleep because I really want to get used to this mask.

I listened last night as I went to bed, and I actually have never noticed that indeed I can hear myself breathing. It isn't the mask, it is me, breathing. I guess I never noticed as one of my only good relaxation techniques is to focus on my breathing in and out and relaxing, so it must never have occurred to me I can hear it too. It's kind of odd now as it seems the mask isn't making noise, but yet my breathing does sound louder with the mask on than it does with no mask.

I'm now wondering what it sounds like with a FFM, as I don't have one I guess I may never know.

Here I am at 2 am after 2 hrs of tossing and turning again. Sigh. It's as though my brain refuses to let me fall asleep with this mask. I also use focusing my breath as a relaxation technique but it isn't working. I'm so frustrated. I've gotten up to go read a bit then I'll go back to bed with my FFM. Sad
