Your machine should show a smiley face in the morning, indicating that your leak rate is under control. It's highly recommended that you also look at your leak graph on your computer to verify that you are not spending any time in large leak.

If you are, then it could be because air is leaking out of your mouth. It's important that you fix this problem if it's occurring because it renders the CPAP machine useless.

If you are mouth-leaking you'll need a simple chin strap. A very easy fix for a very common problem.

RE: AirFit P10
I am a new user and have the Airfit P10 --- I've been using the medium mask. After reading through this and other threads on this mask, I need to understand what size mask is the best for me? I don't have to peel it off when removing. It more or less just sits at the nasal openings. I don't notice any leaks, the few nights I've used it so far (but I have only lasted about 3-4 hours with it per night).

How should the mask be sitting in the nose? What should I notice for proper fit?

The lip or ring should be large enough that it doesn't go inside the nostril. Try the smallest size that doesn't go inside the nostril. The strap should be just tight enough to keep that lip tight against each nostril, but don't over tighten it. If your nostrils are sore find the salve used by nursing mothers, available in the baby aisle of any drugstore.

RE: AirFit P10
Hi Clementine, I use the P10 and started with the medium pillow.
My reason for swapping to the large was because of leaks. I found once I went to large my leaks were minimumised.
They were both comfortable fits, it was purely based on the least amount of leaks.
If your leaks are near nil, stay with medium, if you feel you could do better, give the large a try.
Good luck.

Sorry about my made up word 'minimumised'.

Of course it should have been 'minimised'.
Oops, not sure what I was thinking, I must have been half asleep or something.

Thanks for the replies and video links .... I don't have the large mask currently, since I have the women's version, but I guess I should get hold of a large somehow to try it, just to make sure.

I went from small to medium and reduced the leaks significantly - the large are too big and do not fit me... I was able to get the leaks down to zero by using a chin strap.

The only way you'd need a larger size is if that lip is going inside your nostril.

RE: AirFit P10
I don't think it is . . . . ?? I'm thinking the medium probably is the best fit.

I'm still having such a hard time getting used to this mask .... just having anything on my face. It feels so unnatural. I know the P10 is lightweight, but it feels heavy on my face. Still working on stretching out the straps so it's not so tight.

ETA: When I try to sleep on my side, I do get some leaking. I wonder if a different size mask will eliminate that. I'm a side sleeper and I really miss being able to curl up on my side . . .

You will find that it will become a new natural. The more you wear it the faster that will happen. Think about the damage to your body when you sleep without the mask. Think about how it impacts your day.

RE: AirFit P10
Thanks, yes; I am trying to think about how much better I will feel, some day. It is so discouraging to see how long it takes some people to get used to it and see any benefit. I guess it is something like wearing new eyeglasses? It gets so that one doesn't even feel the glasses on the face. Is that a good analogy?

I had so little sleep last night so took a nap this afternoon after getting home, with the mask, of course. I was so tired that I slapped that mask on and went to sleep fairly quickly and slept for an hour --- woke up refreshed. How did that happen?! LOL Waking up and feeling refreshed? What a strange new development, LOL.
