Aircurve BiPap stops while inhaling

RE: Aircurve BiPap stops while inhaling
do scan the entirety of your settings for easybreathe. I am looking at the clinical manual for Vauto, S, and ST and it is showing easy breathe avail in S Mode.

Please excuse my interruption. It will not happen again. I am inspired by Sleeprider’s screenshot and also have the Aircurve VAuto. My question: how can the Min EPAP in Statistics be lower (6.6) than Minimum EPAP in Machine Settings (9)?

No CPAP can instantaneously start at the min pressure, it takes some time to work up to it.
The Dev team is experimenting with dropping the first few seconds to account for this.

Hello Sleeprider,

I will follow your advice and try to organize a VAUTO with Easybreathe. It seems the best solution for this problem, because this square-wave pressure is not really beneficial (for my case) and if someone like you saying that, I will trust 100% in that.

I tried to follow your instructions and I tried yesterday CPAP with a  pressure of 7cm, because I did not want to mess around with the S/ST menu until I have a proper device for my needs. And I slept not very long and I'm tired today. But my mood increased, I'm cognitive active and I feel I have really slept this time! Damn what a feeling!

I added my results from my session last night and I think I fall asleep at around 00:40. I don't have critical apneas and because of UARS I am aiming for flow limitations. But I was not really able to find this menu anymore in Oscar, tried to find the settings and to turn in on. Could it be that the chart flow limitations just occur when actually having the BiPAP mode on? Like on CPAP flow limitations aren't technically a problem?

@Sleeprider and all other guys here in the forum. You do not do it for money, maybe it's a passion, maybe it's a hobby, maybe you just want to contribute to the SDB-Community. But from my perspective your work and commitment here is phenomenal. You help people to breath and to help them to achieve their health back.

Something what my insurance and the sleep specialist in Germany wasn't able to do for years. He do not accept UARS actually (A lot of doctors do not even know about that condition). Im still struggling with the diagnosis. But today I just feel great! I just want to say. Here is a student oversea in Europe who appreciate your input and thoughts on this board. May God give you all guys all the blessings you deserve!

PS: I just need to get deeper into the science of sleep disturbances and how to actual optimize the cases here on the board. As soon I will be fit, I want to participate here and to give the community back what they invested in me. Merry Xmas for all of you who celebrate it.

Best Regards from Germany,
Jasmin

With CPAP mode, we can see your respiration and tidal volume normalized at 14.4 bpm and 420 mL/sec respectively. This information is important as we try to decide what is normal for you and to know when settings have disrupted your normal breathing pattern. I don't think the ST machine has EPR in CPAP mode, and I'm pretty sure that it doesn't have Easy-Breathe in VPAP-S mode, but it is worth reviewing the menu to see. If you can find EPR in CPAP mode, use a setting of 3, and obviously if if is present in VPAP-S mode select ON. I also suggested you can try the ST with normal respiratory timing, and it should work well. The problems we saw were caused by the settings not promoting appropriate spontaneous cycling to EPAP, and the default settings for Ti Min, Ti Max, Trigger and Cycle and rise time should be fine.

You will do well with any Resmed CPAP Elite or Autoset, and the VPAP Vauto or S should also work well. We are all limited in how we allocate our money and resources and I have no problem working with fixed pressure, as long as the device is appropriate. I see the VPAP ST as being targeted to COPD and hypoventilation problems, and that is why it didn't work in this case and made you look like someone with abnormal pulmonary function.

Thanks for your kind comments concerning what we do on Apnea Board. I expect you will find comfortable, effective therapy in spite of this setback. Enjoy your Christmas evening in Germany. The markets and towns are beautiful there this time of year.

Not by personal experience but a semi educated guess, my ResMed 10 ASV in CPAP mode was straight CPAP with no other setting. Maybe the ST is similar in CPAP mode, (stripping all settings down to single PAP pressure), but again I've never used ST, or the one I've called Old square waves.

Hey Guys,

yes you are both right! On the ST there is no EPR mode while in CPAP mode. Just the classical style of CPAP.
