Airsense 10 vs Dreamstation - a query

Airsense 10 vs Dreamstation - a query
I own both of these machines. If I run them at the same pressure (11) with exactly the same mask (Resmed Nasal Pillows mask) why do I feel like crap next morning with bad nasal congestion with one machine and with the other machine everything is perfectly good

Any ideas how or why 1 machine can differ with same pressure and same mask? I just don't understand it

Hard to say. You'd need to post data from a night's sleep with each machine. I don't know if your machines auto-adjust the pressure because you don't tell us what the models are (for example, there are several models of the AirSense 10). If so, it could be that one of them has an algorithm for adjusting the pressure that is better than the other. It could be the difference in the way the two machines do exhalation pressure relief (EPR), which I think, is called C-Flex on the Dreamstation, or it could be the difference in the way you have them set.

If you are on Fixed pressure (your profile says 11) then there will not be any influence because of algoritms. No algorithm is applied to blow at fixed pressure.

The differences can be:
  • Are you on Fixed or Auto?
  • EPR vs Flex - EPR is a straight cm drop in measurement. Flex is more like a low, medium hich and the pressure drop is typically lower than EPR.
  • Humidity - Fill your tank, measure the water before you go to bed, measure remaining in morning. Repeat for the other machine. Is the preffered one provinding more or less humidity?
  • one or both devices not actually blowing at set pressure
  • Noise?
  • Placebo?
Does OSCAR comparisons of AHI, FLs demonstrate any measurable therapy differences?
