Airway and diagnosis

RE: Airway and diagnosis
As I often do, I placed NIH at the end of the goggled subject "anemia and apnea", and did not find DVs link in the results, but did find a WebMD sound bite - http://forums.webmd.com/3/sleep-disorder.../forum/740 [disclaimer - this was MD answer 7 years ago].

Reading the livestrong article does shed some light on how anemia affects wellbeing and has some of the same symptoms as apnea.

Hello SR (and everyone),

Hope you are well.

I began an anti-depressant a few weeks ago and my sleep has greatly improved. In fact, I've not even been using the XPAP and I am getting some of the best sleep in ages!

I am not 100% but I no longer am waking feeling "hungover" with tight, sore muscles of the neck, shoulders and back. I will get back on the machine to create some readings for the sleep specialist I am now seeing to reevaluate.

I was also anemic which I understand is linked to apnea and saw good improvement after taking iron.

And it is now looking like I will not need MMA surgery!

Best to you and everyone here!

Paula

Paula, this is such great news. I was very worried that you were going down the wrong path. I was also worried that you were not taking charge of things and were unwilling to figure this out.

I also felt that you were not listening to what we were saying, which is why I was sort of desperately giving you the tough love "Dutch uncle" talk. I really felt like you were on the ledge and could not be talked down.

But I see that you got SH working (which pretty much proved that SA and xPAP therapy were not at the center of your woes), and this encouraged me to regain hope that you were indeed willing to find the answers rather than just throw your hands up, which means you probably would not simply throw yourself into something that seems dangerous and reckless without exhausting all other possibilities.

If the meds are working for you, that's just freakin' great. I love a happy ending.

Great job; this is a real personal accomplishment which you should be proud of.

Peace

Thank you Tyrone! My sleep is not great but sometimes it is pretty darn good and it's something I can live with! I hope it gets better with time. Thank you for your support!
