Thank you, Sharp56, for this information. My local equipment supplier did not want to tell me or any other patients how to even get into the clinical settings -- and I have a background in both Respiratory Therapy and Information Technology! It was even implied that the software could only be accessed by my doctor. I knew none of this could be correct, so thanks to this board and your post I've got the info I need to help me get the most out of this new (new to me anyway) therapy.

Welcome to the forum.
It's crazy the way DME's treat us. 
They don't want you to know how to care for yourself and yet they don't seem to be able to help when you need it.
I knew three weeks into my therapy that I was more knowledgeable about CPAP therapy than they were.
Read everything you can here, and if you have questions, there's always someone here to help you.

In my experience, sleep Drs and DMEs (at least the ones involved in my case) have been not only pointless, but counter productive. After 3 sleep studies, there was no consult (between me & Dr.), she just prescribed the AirSense 10 cpap. Of course, the AS10 cpap model supplies nothing but compliance data and an AHI that seems quite unreliable. Having done my own research on my diagnosis (Central Sleep Apnea) and being a cardiac patient, I stopped using the AS10 cpap, as it does absolutely nothing for Central events (nor does it even detect them).
I did have a consult (at my behest) well after initial prescription (and after I knew what I was talking about) and lo and behold, I should have had an ASV. They tried to get it and seemed helpful, but after months of them not supplying the DME with the info they needed and almost $2000 out of pocket, I gave up, realizing that they were just going through the motions and were in fact incompetent. And, since they prescribed the wrong machine in the first place, I think they just strung me along hoping I would give up. And so I did.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this story featured on the news tonight, DHL staff caught throwing parcels onto a truck.

Not really sure that the driver of that truck would allow that to happen as we/they are pretty fussy about weight distribution but if that's what goes on now,I'm glad I'm not driving anymore

Hi Simfish,
I suspect all CPAP machine manufacturers make sure their Clinician Menu will eventually time out and return to user menu.
Have to protect the users from themselves, protect them from changing their own settings, you know....

I am very new to the CPAP game, just one week, and have a new Resmed AirSense 10. I have a rather narrow and high nose bridge and have been trialing a few different nasal masks. I have a short beard and a full face was a disaster with big leaks, and I can't breathe through nasal pillows so a nasal mask is what I am stuck with, currently a Fisher and Paykal Eson. Slowly getting used to it. My AHI index for the last three nights has been 1.4 - 0.8 - 1.1 so That seems pretty good to me. When I was diagnosed the events per hour were 47 with a blood oxygen level of 83%. Now it is up to 95% and I wake up feeling so much better. I'll admit I have been through the range of emotions with the sleep apnoea diagnosis and getting the machine setup, but it can only get better, so that is my way of looking at the situation.

Have a look at the PR DreamWear. It's their latest mask which is a sort of nasal pillow, but with a twist. Might work, worth a try if you buy from a company with a 30 day money back guarantee.

Hey, I went through something similar last spring, and came out with a good solution. Also have an Airsense10, and short beard.
I did my sleep clinic with a Fisher and Paykal Eson and it worked quite well, but too much "gear" for me... especially when it was so new to me.
I trialled an Airfit P10 (nasal pillows), then bought one from the "sleep specialist clinic" i was working with (Canada b/s healthcare). Shortly after I bought a SwiftFX (nasal pillow), a P10 (nasal cushion), and an F10 (full face) (online for 1/3 the local prices). I was very determined to find something that worked well enough that I'd stick with this...
The "sleep specialist" sized me as a medium for the P10, and their "policy" is to keep the small and large nose pieces. It worked, but was difficult to get used to since my breathing was restricted, but after getting the SwiftFX (online, complete with all 3 sized) I noticed that even through the medium fit me a little better, the nasal holes were WAY bigger on the large size. Needless to say I got a hold of a few large size pillows for the P10, and after trying all the other models listed above find it's by FAR the most comfortable, least restrictive, least welding mask looking, with no breathing restrictions....
Also highly recommend the SoClean cleaning unit for anyone reading this... Very glad that a month into this I took the risk and bought one - saves me a LOT of cleaning time.... Still need to clean the pillows and tube, but WAY less and it always feels clean.
