All you wanted to know about the ResMed Airsense 10
RE: All you wanted to know about the ResMed Airsense 10
I have a question about washing the unit. I was advised to soak the silicone parts like the mask, hose and water chamber in mild detergent and then rinse thoroughly one a week. How would one clean the heated hose? I assume with electrical parts it should not be washed? And is there any way to clear the water intake holes on the unit itself? Thanks again for helping a newcomer to the CPAP world.

Same way as all the other stuff. The connections and wiring are water-resistant.

Water Intake Holes? . . .please be more descriptive.

Don't know if I'd submerge the end with the contacts, but the rest of the heated hose can be no problem.

Also, the water (humidity) is added to the air after leaving the main part of the unit, so thoroughly washing the reservoir should do it.

Again I recommend the soclean unit. Washing once a week seems to me that after days 5 and 6 it would be getting pretty gross. Mine gets an ozone blast once a day, then I do a very quick wash/rinse (with a little antibacterial soap) of the hose/mask/reservoir, and hang it all to dry once a week. You can program how many minutes of ozone run each day, as some reviewers mentioned they found it added an odor, and if greatly overused can lessen the life of silicone. All very worth it for me, and I've found running for 4-5min/day leaves no odor. Hope that helps

One side note; A lot of the mask parts are made with a low temp plastic. I learned the hard way to stay away from any temperature greater than a 150°F (65°C).

I wash the cushion daily in the shower, cushion seal best when nice and clean
Today washing the headgear and chinstrap too, got sweaty last night
I wash the heated hose in hot soapy water poured inside the hose and hook one end into the hot water tap to flush it clean ... give it few spins and hang it to dry, normally dry by the evening. Just in case, I've few spares of every things

A good rule of thumb for me is if the water's too hot to touch, it's too hot for my gear.

RE: All you wanted to know about the ResMed Airsense 10
One problem I have noticed is that as a person who needs bathroom breaks at night, I am finding that the tube cools down as soon as I take off the mask. This seems to increase condensation which can be a problem for starting breathing again when I return to bed (usually after only a brief stoppage).

I cannot find a way to reset to delay this cooling until a lengthy stoppage. Does anyone know if this is possible with Airsense 10? If not it is a definite problem in my opinion.

Just scroll down to start warmup function and click on it. That will take it off cool.
