RE: Alphabet and Resmed Startup
Let me speculate a little. Alphabet gets access to ResMed`s data on sleep patterns and apnea patients. They jointly build an android app that detects snoring using the microphone on your phone and combines it with age, sex, weight, neck size, smoker/non-smoker, etc. and tells you if you are at risk of sleep apnea. You order a kit to do a home test and then they sell you a machine, where you auto-titrate.
Alphabet/Google gets more data, ResMed sells more equipment. The sleep study and DME industries get "disrupted" and the JV partners get a bigger share of the sleep industry profits, while the DMEs get squeezed, hard. More people get diagnosed and treated, more affordably.
