Shady DME?

Shady DME?
Is the Resmed H5i humidifier and heated hose for the S9  discontinued? if so how is it possible that i still had over 30 days before i was eligible for a new machine?

after completing all the paperwork and jumping through hoops to prepare for a new machine  waiting over 30 days for them to get these "special order"  i was informed my new machine was in stock and someone would be calling me shortly to work out a curbside pickup so i canceled the special order humidifier and hose per their request.

17 days pass and i call to check on the status of my new machine and wouldn't you guess, no record of any machine being in stock for me and i'm informed that ASV machines are on a global back order and could be months before i get one.

is anything they are saying true?  is it possible to use an out of state DME if i want to go with another company?  any suggestions on how to handle this from here?

If you don't mind paying for it yourself rather than using insurance, they are available on Amazon and probably most CPAP supply companies.

Call your insurance company and get a list of DME's that they are contracted with. Once you have that, start calling them to get a feel of how they operate and respond to you. Ask if they are able to get the machine your doctor prescribed and how long would it take. Of course, they are going to want to see the perscription from your doctor.

Also, always get a copy of that script and sleep study if you had one.

As far as being dishonest... most are pretty shady and will try to offer you the machine and supplies that net them the most profit.

RE: Shady DME?
Even though I was presented my CPAP machine and initial supplies from a local DME supplier, I get my re-supplies from a company based in Florida. I live in Arizona.

I do it all on-line, and when I'm due supplies, the FL. company notifies me and I then confirm what I need. I'm now on Medicare and my insurance company is now my supplemental insurer.

My CPAP machine is now 100% mine and has been for a few months. No more monthly rental charge. All of my supplies are no longer pro-rated as to my share of the charge. I have zero out-of-pocket expenses now.

Not sure what your insurance status is. If you are willing to pay yourself, you can order from whoever you want. Chances are though, you will most likely need to provide a prescription to the company you choose.
