Any way to determine REM sleep from Flow Rate?

thanks for the link. I need to check my Sleepyhead results and see how the increase in rapid breathing rate helps identify REM. Further study of sleep architecture indicates typically REM begins 80-110min after stage 1 and coincides with a reduction in Tidal Volume.

It's very easy to see the REM periods. Your respiratory rate line will be pretty flat, then suddenly it swings way up and down.

By that criteria I am in REM sleep 100% of the time I use CPAP!

And by that criterion I am hardly dreaming at all. Even when I wake up from a dream there is generally no sign of it in the flow rate graph lately.

You can really only measure the sleep cycle accurately with electrodes stuck on your head.

When I first started therapy my flow graph was jumping around like chill's but as time went on I had flatter flow rates and fewer jumpy periods. For the last month or so my flow rate has been pretty even most of the night, and as I said I have woken up from dreams that don't show later on the flow rate graph.

Do you mean that your respiratory rate is never flat but is largely fluctuating 100% of the time?

I might be able to spot the REM on the first image, but not on the second.

I'll post an image if it lets me.

It doesn't seem to be showing. I'll make it an attachment.

You can see the fluctuation that is characteristic of REM breathing in the respiratory rate.
