Anyone have surgery for either - Nasal Septum Deviation or Perforated Nasal Septum?
I am wondering if anyone has had repairs/ surgery for either - Nasal septum deviation or perforated nasal septum

how is the procedure / recovery etc???

Did it help you breath or help with your sleep, apnea or AHI?

Thanks for your input/time

My sister had surgery for deviated septum. When she had the surgery, the doc said it is likely she would need to continue using cpap. 2 months after her surgery, doc sent her for a sleep study and she no longer needed the unit. She hasn't needed one since. She's just the odd one out, as most continue to use their machine.

I had a good sized bone spur removed several years ago to improve nose breathing. He also removed some excess tissue and did the balloon thing to help open sinuses. (Next day it felt like I had been hit in the face with a brick) Had puss coming out of my eyes for about a week or so, but eventually I was fine... Good Luck!

I’ve had two septoplasties, one about 30 years ago, and another about a month ago. The older one was a major rework, the more recent was to remove a bone spur. Why they didn’t remove the bone spur the first time? Perhaps it wasn’t there? The most recent surgery seemed required because of repeated, frequent sinus infections.

Both surgeries resulted in improved breathing and less congestion. There was significant packing in my sinuses this last time to help prevent bleeding. The packing was removed about a week later. It was all smooth, with relatively easy recovery (mostly felt like a bad cold, only with a bit of bleeding).

I’ve always had trouble breathing through my nose, with the result that I’m a mouth breather, and perhaps always will be.

Any questions, feel free to ask.
