RE: SleepyHead Software - Beginner's Guide, Questions, Answers & Discussion
Hi Everyone,

I have just joined and wanted to say hi. I received my Auto CPAP machine a couple of nights ago and am trying to get used to it.
There is a huge amount of information on this site so I have lots to read.
I do have one question and I will be reading everything, I am not afraid to use the search but wanted to get a quick answer if I can. I have a REMstar Auto A-Flex machine which as so may here have done I purchased myself. I went for a mask filling and was told as its an Auto machine there is no pressure setting to consider which I understand.
I downloaded the Sleepyhead software and imported 2 nights of my data and was given the following message:
I guess my question is am I doing something wrong?
"The last time you used your Philips Respironics RemStar Auto with A-Flex...
was last night (on 05 November 2014)
You had an AHI of 41.82, which is considered horrible, please consult your doctor
You machine was on for 6 hours, 35 minutes and 57 seconds.
You had no major mask leaks (maximum was 16.00 L/min).
Your pressure was under 16.2cmH2O for 95% of the time.

Any comments would be much appreciated.

When I originally set it up, on the overview screen, it showed all data from 09/17, when I started recording, to current date. Now, more times than not, it shows data beginning on 10/13 to the current date. If I select another time period other than the standard 2 months, it just spreads out the existing data on the screen. Is there some setting, somewhere I need to go to correct this?
Don't know how to modify, or edit, so bare with me, read the above post again.

I hope this may be of some help. I have found that left clicking on the Overview graphs reduces the viewable dates. If you right click, it will compress the graph and display more dates.

I really must be brain-dead here. Downloaded, installed SleepyHead (Windows 7), write-protected my card just in case, and imported data (then erased and imported 3 different times) - and the data is completely wonky~! As in, I really did sleep without bio breaks or anything last night, but SH stated I slept only til 4AM (it was 1:15PM when I got up) and listed some 11,000+ events in 4hrs last night.

My machine reads 10+ hours of sleep with an AHI of 17.

I gotta be doing something really wrong here?

Hi Peter,
Which version did you install? I have recently done this on my Win7 Pro 64-bit notebook, using the Testing version 0.9.8.1. I have had no trouble with it. Under Windows 7, it's always a good idea to right-click an installer file and use "Run as Administrator".

Same as yours. Did another download tonight, hoping it would 'correct' itself or something. I am thinking it doesn't support my new machine or something. Lots of wonky stuff:
I slept almost 11hrs Thurs-to-Fri, SH showed 41 minutes total
SH shows the correct EPAP MIN, but no other settings. PS MIN/PS MAX is listed as 0.0 for both - way wrong

Just lots of craziness. So I downloaded and installed EncoreBasic which read the same SD card, and gave correct/reasonable data - so I guess that's what I'll use, at least I can see data this way.

RE: SleepyHead Software - Beginner's Guide, Questions, Answers & Discussion
Hi everyone,
I just downloaded the debian package of sleepyhead, vers 9-2-1 and installed it on my Lubuntu (linux); following the indications of the wiki makes it and everything works well. Many, many thanks to développer and hosts , the SD-card of my cpap -machine tells me now the strange story of my nights.
RE: SleepyHead Software - Beginner's Guide, Questions, Answers & Discussion
Thanks SuperSleeper, RobySue, etc my Mac SleepyHead program works OK, but I have some /questions-problems.

1. My View pull down menu entries are different.

2.The Daily Statistics graphs only run from 22:45 to 06:30, which cuts off part of my sleep record - if this span is set somewhere, I don't know where. I have the RH Sidebar turned off, and it does not show.

3. I don't know how to print out LH Sidebar (Calendar).

4. There are some Event Flag Bars along the top edge of the Flow Rate graph, which are not copies of displayed Event Flags, and I don't know what they are.

5. I have 2 parallel graphs on the Leak Rate display. The lower graph is 20 units below the top one. The mantissa of this graph runs from 0 to 45, with the major divisions labeled by 9s, further divided by 4s. This is a very awkward scale, and the units and precision (as on all graphs) are not specified. (At MIT they taught me that a physical measurement specified without the uncertainty in the quantity was "useless", and I suppose a grade point deduction. If they saw a quantity like "Leak Rate" without units, I suspect that they would have had apoplectic fits. I was fortunate to observe neither of these distressing moments, while there.) At the top of the Leak Rate Graph it says: Leak Rate 0.06, Total Leaks: 20.06 - what do these data mean?

6. No units on Snore graph. Although there are 6 rectangles in the graph, the top says Snore: 0.00. What does this mean?

7. I now have a constant pressure of 6cmH20 (Sorry, can't set machine to Pa (pascals). But the By Pressure Graph has a Grey (LL) triangle graph running from 4.5 to 6.5 cmH20, and the other colors running from 5.5 to 7.5 cmH20. This is of course nonsense. Can I shut this graph off so that it is not included in the Daily Page?

8. F11 does not affect the (Full) Screen, but shows a little box with a loud speaker inside, and a volume control.

9. Yesterday, the Graphs were OFF (I had seen them every time before), and a note next to the switch told me that I could not turn the graphs on! I toggled the Switch several times, every control that I could see in between, but I could not turn the Graphs ON. I finally downloaded a new copy of the program; and the Graphs were also OFF, but clicking a few extraneous buttons, they came ON. This switch should be the SOLE DETERMINATOR of whether the Graphs are displayed - and if there is any reason preventing their display there should be a popup explaining why, and how to turn them on.

The rest of this comment seems to have vanished so I will try again another day.

RE: SleepyHead Software - Beginner's Guide, Questions, Answers & Discussion
Yesterday I had an appointment with a sleep specialist. Among the items I was told to bring was a printout of the latest download from my PAP machine. I was told to take my SD card to a pharmacy on the other side of the city, have it read and a printout done. As we all know data from one night only is not indicative or representative of one's condition & since docs as a rule don't go shuffling through pages of printouts, I decided to take my info on a USB flash drive. I was unable to achieve this with SH, so I used InfoSmart's PDF output instead, saved to my flash drive. My doc was able to bring all my data up on his PC & view records from where I began my therapy with my Icon+. My suggestion therefore (if possible) to Jedimark is to build into SH the ability to output all data to a PDF file. Perhaps this is already underway in the latest SH builds. I think it's a good idea.

RE: SleepyHead Software - Beginner's Guide, Questions, Answers & Discussion
woozie38,
If your running a version of Windows, you can download "CutePDF" for free. It will install just like any other printer and will allow you to create a pdf file instead of sending to a conventional printer. When you select the PRINT option in SH(or any other program), just select the CutePDF as the printer. You will be prompted for a location and a file name to save it. On the other hand, if you're running a Linux machine most versions have a pdf printer module built-in to the base O/S. I hope this may be of some help.
