Australia, U.S. "Insurance" DME

RE: Australia, U.S. "Insurance" DME
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. It is very informative to hear first hand accounts of how the Australian system works.

Last year, Bloomberg rated the health care systems in 48 nations from most to least efficient. Australia was rated as 7th. The U.S. came in at a dismal 46th. You can read the full brief article here:

Maybe things will get better here with the new health care reforms, but it's too early to predict.

Thanks again everyone.

Thanks Airstream, interesting article, as others have said it is a good system if you are sick, just expensive. I suppose we have to pay for medical advances, new treatments and new medicines. Apart from some companies being greedy and profiting from the sick we are a small country of 23 million and the economy of scale doesn't help. Our manufacturing industries specifically our car manufacturing industry is going down the shute pretty quickly with Ford and just last week GM deciding to pull out of Australia. I work in the Retail food industry here in Australia and we can't compete with foreign imports mainly from China and when times are tough everybody wants things cheap.

Hello Tez62, We have a hard time finding items made here too. Cheap Chinese products are taking over everywhere. Now you have me wondering where my S9 was made...never checked.

I only buy foods grown and produced in Australia, its simply the best and goes very well with Australian wines.
Australian food and Australian wines (also with any food) are perfect marriage ... Enjoy

The first two numbers of machine serial numbers tells you the country and next two numbers tells year of manufacture
22 for Australia and 23 for Singapore
