Maybe with his money
Sports and entertainment stars make ridiculous amount of money
Doctors who save people lives don,t get paid much in comparison
But suppose you don't buy gossips magazines to read about doctors but rather about who is doing what to who Too-funny

I don't think it's the money - she's not in love with Bill Gates!

No, my She Who Must Be Obeyed (so, another reader of H. Rider Haggard, eh? - I claim first rights on this in this forum) also find him him scrummy, and it is his looks and good manners, believe me. Money doesn't turn her on (too much) nor does athletic prowess (being the cousin of one of the world's top ski stars has immunised her to that), but clean good looks and good manners send her to the moon ( I have the good looks, but not the manners). For the record, she is even more nuts over Pierce Brosnan and Michael York (at least in his Three Musketeers era).

Not Rider Haggard but Rompole of the Bailey. Great English series starring an Aussie actor Leo McKern.

I started using SWMBO on the Nikonians forum about 12 years ago, so you might have first dibs in this forum, but I reckon I beat you by a long way. Smile

Not really - I started using it on old BBSs back in the dinosaur age of the 90's, and where do you think John Mortimer, who wrote the books that became the basis for the the tv series got it? It was always a reference to SHE, by H. Rider Haggard. Mortimer was raised on the stories, as well as many other adventure stories so popular in his youth. And I actually started referring to my missus as She back when we got married back in '82 and have referred to her ever since, along with The Loyal Leader of the Opposition, The Boss, Chef (not in reference to the kitchen, but the French and German word for Boss), 'er Indoors, and Stanley (that one is a looooong story).

OK, I concede - I don't think I was using it in 1982. Smile I must dig up the book and have a read - one of the many classics I never got around to.

It's pretty good, if a touch turgid - better than the Burroughs books, not as good as Verne.

And if you haven't read Mortimer's books either, but just relied on McKern's unbelievably brilliant performance*, then you should read them - Mortimer was a wonderful writer, and wrote a lot of great books - his semi autobiographical A Voyage Around My Father will bring tears to your eyes.

*and it was - I have been a great admirer of McKern since I first saw him on stage in The Tea Party and on the telly in Robin Hood (he played the baddie, and was very good - us kids were raised on UK tv imports back then).
