BIPAP Titration Results in
Hi and Happy New Year to everyone

I got my titration results emailed to me and I am wondering what I should post to see what your thoughts are on the results. I can't remember the criteria for switching to a BIPAP and I thought I had it in my favorites but I can't find it.

Thanks.

RE: BIPAP Titration Results in
The usual criteria for being switched to BiPAP include one or more of the following:
  1. A treated AHI > 5 and good compliance data
  2. A pressure setting of 15 or above combined with problems tolerating the pressure
  3. Severe adjustment problems with good compliance or a real effort to meet compliance. Ongoing problems with aerophagia is one example. The inability to get to sleep or stay asleep while using them achine is another. Typically insurance companies will want the doc to certify that fixes such as a change of mask style, changing the humidifier setting, changing the exhale relief setting, a pressure adjustment, and/or a change from CPAP to APAP (or APAP to CPAP) have been tried, but has failed to fix the adjustment problems.
  4. No relief from daytime symptoms in spite of a treated AHI < 5, particularly combined with #2 or #3. Typically insurance companies will want the doc to certify that fixes such as "a change of mask style" and "a pressure adjustment" and "a change from CPAP to APAP (or APAP to CPAP)" has been tried, but has failed to fix the adjustment problems.

I don't know the pressure recommendation but I know what was used in the titration. Since I have only used CPAP and APAP, I don't know how to read all of this titration study and understand it. Most I understand but it is a lot different than my other studies and some of it I don't understand.

The pressure they used was 15/9 but without posting the interpretation, I can't tell you more than that off the top of my head.

Thanks. I am not too sure of what exactly this titration study shows as it is different than my previous ones (the interpretation and charts).

If I am going to be switched to BIPAP, I definitely want the auto Guess I will find out soon enough. I don't even think I will go back to the doc for an explanation of my titration but will just have them order the machine and be done with it all and at the same time, save $40 not going to the doc's office. Last year, we didn't have to pay to go to the doc but this year we do.

I remember waking up but I went right back to sleep and I also remember sleeping more during this titration than any other titration and/or sleep study. I don't remember waking up 27 times and I don't remember the limb movements.

Is limb movements part of OSA or is it possibly caused by something else. I don't remember reading about others talking about limb movements as a general occurrence. Thanks.

RE: BIPAP Titration Results in
Me, it's called PLMD, periodic limb movement disorder, it is another sleep disorder like RLS, I have it as well as sleep apnea. Mine is helped with my CPAP, my sleep specialist recommended medication but I didn't take it and hoped CPAP would treat it. At my follow up sleep study my movements had dropped dramatically, I have leg and arm movements and my body would jerk and sometimes jump up in the air. A number of times I would kick my wife in my sleep that's one of the reasons I fireplace in a different room.

Are these 2 charts I posted enough for anyone to help me understand what this is telling me or do I need to post the whole interpretation?

Thanks.

the only thing I didn't post is my personal information and the 02 analysis as there wasn't anything to report on the 02 saturation. My lowest HR was 65.2.
