What are the Flow Spikes?

What are the Flow Spikes?
When I look at my daily view, breath by breath, some areas are super uniform, like everything is exactly perfect.  Other times, although over all it seems stable, there are regular spikes or increases in the breaths.  I wonder if that may be waking me up a little, or is it nothing?

What causes the spikes?  I thought upping the EPAP may help, but it didn't.  I slept well, I think.  But the smooth run is a thing of beauty and I would like that all the time.
