Bad cold and CPAP suggestions?

Bad cold and CPAP suggestions?
Hello everyone. I am new. Less than a month. I was feeling better than I have in a long time using my new CPAP. Waking up in the morning and actually being awake. But then I got this dreaded virus that is going around. First, my nose was running non-stop and I had to take my mask off because it literally had snot all inside it. Now, I go to bed wearing it, but it makes me cough and cough, so I've been taking it off after 3-4 hours. Will this effect me too much? I don't know if I am exhausted because of the virus, the lack of using my CPAP or both..... any suggestions?

This too will pass! I am also suffering from a bad cold/sinus infection right now.
Even with a cold, I've never gone without wearing my mask.

Use nasal rinses daily and nasal spray before bed. Rinse mouth before bed with something like Biotene or Act Dry Mouth rinse.

I feel the congestion is actually helped by wearing nasal pillows, but coughing is another problem.

If you must take the mask off because of coughing, do so, but put it back on as soon as you gain control.

Also, removing your mask after 3-4 hours may mess with your compliance requirements if that applies to you.

While I had "the crud" I initially used a Robitussin cold and cough relief at night, but switched to a multi-symptom cold relief (Vicks Nyquil tablets) at night. That got me through, and as mentioned, I had some of the lowest AHI ever. Fortunately gone now.
