RE: Beard
Larry,
I assume you have an AIRTOUCH F20 mask that I mistakenly called P20. The mask that I changed to is an AIRFIT F20 FFM. Sorry about the confusion.

Yes, if you've got the silicone version, try it.

If I have it correct, what you have will actually both count as an F20, one is a silicone AirFit and the other is memory foam AirTouch. These refer to the triangular cushions, or seals if that's what you'd like to call them.

This would not include another mask you might have that is a P10, the nasal mask you were getting.

The above is supposing I followed and combined my memories of the details in your other thread correctly.

The foam pad does work nicely with a beard. It however is not very durable.

I had much better luck with a ruby style chin strap or soft collar than I did with the ffm.

Leaks are less than 1%.

The combined chin strap plus mask is very minimal.

Try different masks that dont interfer with beard such as nasal or nasal pillow. or use a gel sealer around edge of mask!

In relation to the mouth breathing I had that problem too but I've overcome that by using a double sided mouth guard with my chinstrap.....works a treat.

The mouth guards are available very cheaply on Ebay $4 - $5 and no doubt Amazon, all it takes to form them to your mouth is immerse the mouth guard in hot water for 5 - 10 seconds then allow to cool for a few seconds then place in your mouth and bite down strongly and run your fingers around the top and bottom to form it to your teeth and gums.

I have a full beard, and my medics have never raised the issue of excess leakage.

Though to be fair to them they are garbage at their job, so any issues they probably file under too difficult.

I'm glad to hear they don't work too hard. Not like they should earn money or anything like that. You as the patient, on the other hand, don't get to reap the benefits of their hard work to assist you with your therapy.

Oh-jeez
