Respiratory effort- related arousals (RERA's)
I used to have a Dreamstation 2 which would mark RERA's in OSCAR, now using a ResMed Aircurve it does not mark those anymore, unless I am not having them which could be the case. How do you identify RERA's with a ResMed machine? if someone did have an issue with RERA's, is it the EPAP or IPAP pressure that would need to be adjusted?

RERAs are only reported in the AirSense series and not the AirCurve.

RE: Respiratory effort- related arousals (RERA's)
RERA is an increasing flow limitation leading to an arousal. They are very easily identified in your Oscar data by observing where flow limits are present, then zoom in to the flow rate chart and see if there is diminishing flow followed by a large spike in breathing. I have seen your Dreamstation and Aircurve Vauto charts, and the reason you no longer have RERA is that you now have pressure support that has nearly eliminated flow limitation. Without flow limitation resulting in increased respiratory effort, there cannot be RERA.

Thank you for your input. I have learned more this week than the last 6 months. Awesome!
