Boy do I feel dumb ......

Boy do I feel dumb ......
I have known for some years I have OSD but somehow it just didn't register how bad this is.
I retired early and at substantial loss of income thinking I was just burned out but now I realize that may not have been correct.

Now none of this may be news to the august members of this board but is revelation to me...

So I research and find how many of my problems may be from this one source....X known to apply to me ....

X _Damage to income potential
X _acid reflux - GERD
X _aggravating ADHD
X _CRS - can't remember stuff
X _depression
_diabetes
_ED early death
_ED the other ED
X _fatitude
_getting hit by a bus when you pass out and fall into the street
_headaches
_heart diseases
X _high blood pressure (and all it brings)
XX _nocturia
X _non-specific brain fog
_stroke
X _TB - as in tired butt
X _TBM - tired bedmate syndrome
XX _Thyroid problems
X _yelling and screaming at loved ones and being a jerk in general

I am not expecting a CPAP machine to be a miracle cure but am optimistic my general enjoyment of life will improve. And if I do see miraculous improvement I wouldn't turn it away!

I too retired early for the same reason; with a lesser retirement than I would have had.
I wonder how many people have done the same?

I also retired early. I should have been able to work another year or two, but I felt burned out.
I though it was the stress of the job. I would get up at 5am every morning and by 2 in the afternoon, I couldn't go on. By the time I got home at 5pm, my husband was ready to go out (He was already retired), but I just sat on sofa and fell asleep.
Had no idea I had sleep apnea.
Yes, I lost income, bonus, etc. Now it just makes me angry if I dwell on it too much, so I've had to develop a different mind set.
Life is good, apnea under control, feel good...have a new grand daughter to enjoy.
Hubby and I go out a lot more now. Bouncy

Thanks for sharing that, Mark. I can add to your check marks. Although I've felt like retiring for a long time, fortunately, I love my job and the income, and can't retire yet anyway. I'm anxious for the insurance to approve my referral to a sleep doc so I can finally get started on doing something about this.

Just minutes after posting that, I got a call from the sleep doc's office and got an appointment for first consult on Tuesday. The journey begins!

I took a serious hit to my potential retirement income to get out early. I too normally loved my job I was just exhausted I guess.

If you are willing to add your check marks I think that a great idea.
For example I just read somewhere a comment that someones TMJ reduced with then PAP therapy. I have that too.
If there is a comprehensive list of OSA related maladies on this board I have yet to find it and if not I think such a list/thread could possibly be a great resource for a lot of people.
I use my PAP machine nightly and I feel great!

Mark that sounds like a great idea!
I nominate you to research and compile the list.
I am sure some of the experts here will help you post it once you have it.

XX _Thyroid problems...

You may have buried the lead.

I have not heard of a connection with thyroid problems. I would love for someone to school us on that one.

But your list may also not be exhaustive. I predict you will find relief to many of these issues with proper xPAP therapy.

Let us know how it goes.
