Breath pattern question

I think you need to call up ResMed and tell them your PS is malfunctioning.  They may ask for a copy of the file.

I'm sorry...that wasn't the shot you asked for. I actually just saw what you were asking for. That was one sleeprider was asking for.

RE: Breath pattern question
Here is a small stretch of what I think it closer to normal. There are nights with stretches of peaks and then longer stretches of the "normal" wave. I'd have to go back through all the nights and look though because I don't remember which nights have them...I don't think every night does but then again I haven't been inspecting them all.
Thank you folks again for looking at this with me.

RE: Breath pattern question
Here's one where it's mostly normal the whole time.

RE: Breath pattern question
The "normalest" one is at PS 6.0.  Significant?

I'd give ResMed a buzz to see what they say.  I would think they would have some interest in seeing that (if they haven't seen it already).

RE: Breath pattern question
What you refer to as "closer to normal" on PS 4.0 still has the echo (albeit a less severe).  At PS 6.0 there's still a bit of residual pressure but PS has clearly turned off and is well into it's downslope:

I will contact them when I get home today from work. I'm not entirely sure I can convey what is happening but I will give it my best shot.

RE: Breath pattern question
David, can you verify the the trigger and cycle sensitivity are set to medium or normal? Also, what is your Ti Min and Ti Max.

The explanation for the anomaly is that your machine does not cycle to EPAP when you spontaneously cycle, but continues to provide inspiratory pressure (IPAP) until your expiratory flow has reached its maximum expiratory flow rate. This effect appears to be greater at PS 4 than at PS 6. The extended IPAP pressure causes anomalous echos in your expiratory flow as the machine cycles.

Trigger = medium
Cycle = medium
Ti Min = 3
Ti Max = 3
I did have trigger and cycle both on very high for a little while because it seemed like it wasn't picking up so I adjusted the sensitivity. I put them both back on medium last night.

RE: Breath pattern question
I might be inclined to think the Ti Min/Max should be tried at default to be certain it's not bad setting choices. I'm sure 3 isn't default for both. And it might be part of this issue. Even if it's not the issue, go back to default to remove any variance.

Actually 3 was the default for both.
Ipap 25
Epap 5
PS 5
Trigger medium
Cycle medium
Ti Min 3
Ti Max 3
is the defaults or at least that's what it was set at when I got it.
