[CAs] How long Before CAs Diminish?

[CAs] How long Before CAs Diminish?
Helloooo!
It's been four months, and I'm going well with my machine.  It is helping to a discernable degree now, with no burning need for naps for several weeks.
However I'm still checking my Sleepyhead every morning, and while I'm reasonably happy with my progress, I'm still very tired in the mornings, and I'm still 'dumb'.
And I always have a fair percentage of CAs.
Are these supposed to lessen over time?
I've attached a fairly typical pie graph of events most nights.

Whatever the outcome, under 2 is really good. You might just keep a few CA.
After 3 months, is the norm for pressure induced CA to abate. They may be clear airways or may be a true central with an o2 drop. Above the AHI bar is the event tab, click on that and the CA to bring up the list. It's a matter of how long they last, if the few you have are even worth thinking about. They might just be long sighs. You will need to zoom in and see if events were around, to influence them.

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure.

What's the difference between a clear airway and a central?

Since these machines can't really tell with 100% accuracy if the events are truly Centrals (it requires sleep lab technologies to be certain), the term CA (Clear Airway is used instead).

In common usage, they are synonymous or at least there is a strong presumption that CAs are Centrals.

CA reflects the limits of the technology to be 100% positive of the interpretation.

Thanks for the way to check further on each night Smile
Zooming in, it looks related to mask pressure. Maybe during a rollover or something, perhaps?

I didn't see the average chart before. I was half hearted in going to suggest a min 1cm pressure rise before. Now, I think I would give it a try for a week, see it it takes care of a few obstructive events.

Now, that's interesting.
I hadn't thought of minimum pressure, but just for laffs I set the machine on CPAP for a night to see what happened. AHI was higher than usual so I moved it back to APAP.
But looking back at that night's graphs, yes CAs were way down, but everything else went a bit nuts.

when your 95% was 13.5 and you have max 12, you would expect to have more events.
Try min 11 for a while, you can even try min 12 or min 13.5 Leave the max at 16 for a bad night.

Oh yeah LOL Duh me...
My prescription was for 12. Go figure. I coped with the 12 straight no worries, so upping the min shouldn't be a problem at all.
Ok. I'll give that a go and see what happens.
Thank you Smile
