Can I Make My Resmed ASV act like a Bipap?

Can I Make My Resmed ASV act like a Bipap?
Hi All and thank you in advance for your help.

I've been using a Resmed ASV for a little over a year and am wondering if I can use it in a typical bi-pap mode with similar settings? If so, how do I "turn off" the ASV aspect?

Thank you!

RE: Can I Make My Resmed ASV act like a Bipap?
Having used the same ASV, no not exactly. It is a BPAP already, but the backup rate that makes the ASV operate is automatic. And it doesn't do well as a plain CPAP either when I tried it. It's static single pressure CPAP. In the strictest sense, no you can't turn off the ASV portion.

I suppose if you reduced PS, maybe you get something like just BPAP, but I'm thinking it'll be a less than optimal BPAP. But this brings a few questions, why do you want this regular BPAP operation on ASV? And if you don't need ASV, why do you have it? If issued it, why do you have it, if you don't need it? It's very difficult to get ASV issued even when it's the right machine.

PS I've read a few of your other threads. You have ASV because only centrals showed on test results. It will likely turn out badly if you try BPAP without backup rate, and I'd not advise it.
