[CPAP] Camping power supply older model

Cool
Camping power supply older model
I have been looking online for a battery powered solution for my CPAP machine. I have an older ResMed S7 lightweight that only has a regular plug. I also do not have the means to use it without the humidifier, which I know uses more energy. I have thought about getting one of those portable power/car jumper kits, but I have had poor success with those on a previous camping trip where it only powered my CPAP for about three hours. I don't know anything about different voltages or how much power the CPAP consumes Sad
The machine has 100-240V, 2.2A ~50-60Hz on the bottom of it. Does anyone out there have the know how and/or experience to send me in the right direction? I am ready to embark on a two week cross country trip with camping involved, and I'm no good without my machine!
Thank you!

You should be able to turn the humidifier off, or at least put it on the lowest setting.

I'd be tempted to install a shut off switch if one weren't already there.

If you MUST have humidity, I would go passive/passover. the stock heated humidifiers don't likely have enough surface area to do the job and you may have to look into a dedicated passover unit (Respironics has them - check the suppliers online).

I don't know about the S-7, but Resmed DOES have a battery manual that may be informative as to sizing a battery for overnight use. I have a pdf copy of the guide that covers the S-8 units and S-9 units.

You are right - the "emergency battery packs" are not well suited to this purpose. Particularly if they have an AC inverter and you use that. Inverters are bad bad bad for eating power unnecessarily. If not, then there is not a whole lot of battery in there for long running. I don't know of a good solution for camping if you have to carry it by hand/backpack camping. If you are car camping, then a 35 AH SLA/AGM battery is good for me for a few nights, but I don't use heat...

Will you have an opportunity to recharge a battery while enroute?

My S8 had a jack for 24 VDC. But, the bottom plate said it would operate on 24 VDC (and even 400 Hz.)
I guess the S7 does not have that option.
