RE: DME charges for modem part of Airsense
Most billing is by HCPCS code. Our wiki shows you the most of the codes http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php...6_Medicare Look for Durable Medical Equipment CPAP. As far as I know, it doensn't get down to the monitoring, but you can find different levels of positive air pressure, equipment, asks, cushions, headgear, tubes, etc. Your Resmes Airsense 10 Autost is E601 and it doesn't matter if its auto or fixed. The humidifier is E0562, and a few more. No modem, so that was bogus.

RE: DME charges for modem part of Airsense
I only have experience with getting DreamStations from my DMEs. And the DreamStation's modem is a removable component; so that is different from the ResMed which has a built-in modem. So I don't know if my story will be helpful to you.

And I don't use Medicare. So my story may really be unhelpful.

My first DME did charge for the modem, even though I told them I did not want the modem. I argued it. I pressed the issue. And there was no way around it with them.

I ended up being unhappy with that slimy DME, so I returned my rented machine to them and found a new DME. My new DME did not charge separately for the modem.

So my advice would be to call around to other DMEs, and see if you can find one that is reasonable.
