[CPAP] I want my Dreamstation back

RE: I want my Dreamstation back
Not disputing you are all, but some others here find their PCP to be better than specialized sleep medicine docs. Those specialists don't like patients that know more about PAP therapy than they do.

Interesting… not something I would’ve thought of, but makes sense in a way!

Really think this through, is my opinion. You and your current doc are doing ok in treating your condition, right? Unless you weren't successfully treated, I'd continue as is.

For if/when you want a ResMed VAuto, take a look on Supplier #2. They have new or what they call gently used. When you do want to buy, call them first. They will tell you exactly how many hours machine x has and maybe the price is better on that call. They may not be able to advertise their lowest pricing.

RE: I want my Dreamstation back
I carefully documented my sleep problems when using the AutoSet. Despite AHI < 2, I just was not rested well. I was fortunate to be able to try a VAuto and was able to document the benefits to me -- better sleep, waking more rested, etc. I was prepared to buy a VAuto directly but talked to my doctor about the differences and he wrote an Rx for the VAuto. The machine was covered by my DME and Medicare without any problems (aside from the usual bureaucratic delays at the DME).

My doctor is very supportive and doesn't interfere with my managing my own sleep apnea. I give him an OSCAR statistics report once a year and he looks at usage, AHI, and oximetry, and puts the report in his files.

Thanks for that. I’ve been dealing with secondwind but it’s good to have another source. I was lucky as I acted immediately on the Philips recall and got a good price on the ResMed. My sister called a week later and paid $200 more.  Again, thanks for the helpful advice.

Duh…. I get it now. I’ve bought from and sold to them over the years and feel like I can trust them. Supplier #2 did seem like an odd name for a company… sorry!!
