[CPAP] Nasal pillow fit
#1
Nasal pillow fit
I have a Resmed 10.  For years I always got a perfect score regarding the mask fit in "My Air".  Suddenly I often get "adjust mask".  The number are all over the place.  I use nasal pillows.  I even tried switching to a different pillow.  My events are always very low.  Should I just ignore the mask fit number.  On the display on my unit the mask  always shows a good fit.

RE: Nasal pillow fit
Many new pillow masks come with multiple sizes of nasal pillows. I think it's a good idea to try increasing the size and see if it helps. I have found many users seem to use a size too small. The seal is created not by inserting the pillow into your nares, but by the where the cushion rests around that. It's easy enough to try, don't you think?

Another reason can be your hose management system. If someone is sleeping and moving around a fair bit, it could have the effect of pulling on your mask and temporarily dislodging it during the night. I use a hose holder system that keeps my hose up away from my arms and chest and it has an internal bungee cord system that allows for pulling when I turn on my side, etc. It has really helped my leak numbers.

If the mask itself fits well and does not seem like it is leaking when you are wearing it, then make sure the leak is not somewhere else, such as a hole in the hose, or something like the humidifier not sealing.
