[CPAP] Precision, pressure stability and pump performance test on 10 popular CPAP devices

Precision, pressure stability and pump performance test on 10 popular CPAP devices
Hey. I have been reading the forum for over a year now, but only today I am sending the first post because I would like to invite you to read my last article. I tested 10 popular CPAP models in different pressure variants and analyzed the results. I think it's an interesting story. You will see if expensive machines are better than cheap ones. How your CPAP copes with large leaks. Why is pump performance so important? Are Chinese CPAPs worth something? :-) The test is independent from the manufacturers! Feel free to read it and comment. :-)

And unfortunately I can't give you the link, because of the forum rules.   Dont-know

You'll will have to Google it. Title is: "Precision and performance testing of popular CPAP devices [ENG]"

Maybe somebody will put a link in the comment.

It showed up as the top result when I searched Google using your criteria, quotation marks included. Interesting information. I think the paperwork that came with my DreamStation included some pressure accuracy data. I should compare what PR claimed to what you found.

The thing I am wondering is if pressure accuracy is really important for an auto machine. As long as it adjusts itself efficiently to control apnea events it seems that it really doesn't matter too much if the initial settings are dead nuts accurate, but I'm probably missing something there. It is a little terrifying to think that a machine purported to be capable of achieving 20 cm/H2O can really only sustain half that.

Interesting info on the article. My take is that it helps reinforce the idea that large leaks must get resolved or your machine can’t be expected to treat you properly and accurately. Smaller leaks should be addressed if possible but they are lessened in how they negatively impact treatment.

You have to remember that pressure is one thing, but the maximum flow rate is also important. For Dreamstation, the manufacturer guarantees a flow rate of 128 l/min at 20 cm H2O (and this is a rather poor result, because DeVilbiss is 138 and Prisma is 205). The measurement accuracy for Dreamstation is 0.5 cm H20.
