[CPAP] Pros & Cons of using ASV for plain old obstructive sleep apnea?

RE: Pros & Cons of using ASV for plain old obstructive sleep apnea?
I'm still thinking things over about ASV for anybody with OA and whether or not backup rate may not be OK in the same scenario. I do recall a member had tried ASV and it made him worse for the trying. I'll post again if I have more on this.
INFORMATION ON APNEA BOARD FORUMS OR ON APNEABOARD.COM SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED MEDICAL ADVICE. ALWAYS SEEK THE ADVICE OF A PHYSICIAN BEFORE SEEKING TREATMENT FOR MEDICAL CONDITIONS, INCLUDING SLEEP APNEA. INFORMATION POSTED ON THE APNEA BOARD WEBSITE AND FORUMS ARE PERSONAL OPINION ONLY AND NOT NECESSARILY A STATEMENT OF FACT.

One downside of ASV seems to be more prevalent aerophagia which isn't that surprising.

The upside of ASV is minute volume compensation but that upside is only truly beneficial if a patient is not able to negate apnea/RERA's without ASV.

What is more common? Aerophagia due to ASV or RERA's that can't be treated with auto bilevel?

I personally think ASV is likely overkill for the majority of people with OSA but it should probably be considered in tough cases where a person can't find satisfactory treatment with an auto bilevel.
