[CPAP] Rainout/dry mouth issues
#21
RE: Rainout/dry mouth issues
I started with the vivosmart 3 maybe 5 yrs ago and just upgraded to 4 (they are so inexpensive), I have not looked at vivoactive though.  I tried the Fitbit luxe thinking it would track spo2 and all it gave was one number for the night so, useless.  Garmin is definitely better.  It’s how I learned about HRV awhile back because I wanted to know how their stress function was measured.  But the spO2 I think was added later after I got the device.

Do you take anything to help sleep?  I know some if not all sleep aids can worsen apnea but, no sleep for me is pretty awful too.  I had been told by sleep and other docs that apnea does not cause insomnia but then in reading about it, it seems that it actually can.  Wish I had known that a year ago would’ve gotten tested sooner.  So much misinformation from supposed specialists.

RE: Rainout/dry mouth issues
I have a dry mouth at times but not always. I do not use heat or humidity because I don't want to deal with the issues of any growth in leftover water. In the winter it is obviously more likely I get a dry mouth. My solution is using a quality dry mouth mouthwash before bed like Biotene. I know many will have better solutions but this is simple fix for me. My wife says I have no leakage with my nasal mask at least when she is awake.

ECM...

I do not take anything to help my sleep.  I did melatonin for a while but stopped because even at low dose it make me feel groggy for half the day.  And I agree with you that apnea can cause insomnia.  Since I've started CPAP I've been falling asleep much faster.  It used to take me 2 hours to fall asleep sometimes, but since CPAP I've been falling asleep usually in about 30 minutes.  That by itself is refreshing.  Wink
