[CPAP] Ramp Settings
#1
Ramp Settings
I recently received the DreamStation and the ramp is set for 30 minutes. My old machine was set for 15 minutes and I usually fall asleep that quickly. That means at least 15 minutes of snoring and not-so-good sleep. Can someone direct me to the ramp time limit settings in the clinician menu?

RE: Ramp Settings
You should be able to adjust the ramp without accessing the clinical menu its a comfort function. look through the menus on your device i personally dont know the Dreamstation as I dont have that machine.

rubaru,
Just order the clinicians manual, see top of page....Cpap Setup Manuals.
You will need this Manual to be able to make changes.

RE: Ramp Settings
Find the info you need to reset the ramp time, also revisit the starting pressure. My machine defaults to a start of 4, which is much too low for me to be comfortable. I put my machine on auto-start, and watched what the pressure was when I could breathe easily. Turned out to be 7.5. My APAP is set to a min. of 9.6. Before redoing ramp, I spent a few minutes feeling "stuffed" when I first started or restarted the machine. I set ramp to 7.5, with a time of 5 minutes, and that was enough to make ME more comfortable. These machines have lots of customizable features, and it is good to explore them. Everybody is different, the numbers that work for me probably won't be the ideal for you. Experiment, give each new change some time, only change one thing at a time, and you can dial in your therapy to the point you don't even notice it.

RE: Ramp Settings
Okay everybody - I found what I needed. I looked through the clinician manual and got my answer. The ramp was set to start at 4 and go up to my minimum pressure of 16 over 30 minutes. Way too long for me. Also, I felt like I was sucking in air too much at 4, so I was able to reset my ramp start up pressure. Now I'm starting at 6 and ramping over 15 minutes. My AHI went from 4.5 to 2.7 in one night.

RE: Ramp Settings
I fin it interesting that Respironics did not include the ability to adjust ramp time in their new dreamstation? You could in most of their previous models. Just the opposite of the Resmed S10 where you can adjust ramp time, but not ramp start pressure. These new machines should give the patient the ability to adjust both.
