CPAP Software
I would like to get some kind of CPAP software, but I don't know how the various programs compare to each other. What are their costs, features, capabilities and reliabilities? Does anyone have any experience with more than one program, so they could offer a comparison?

RE: CPAP Software
Welcome to the forum alan1129

The software is free here.

The most popular is Sleepyhead, here is the link:
http://www.sleepfiles.com/SH2/

You also can use ResScan:
http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-...hines-only

Most folk here use both, but if you want to start with Sleepyhead, that would be best.

Sleepyhead will give you the most data. Here is a link to the Beginners Guide To Sleepyhead.

RE: CPAP Software
G'day Alan, welcome to the forum. Apart from Resmed's MyAir website, there are two "real" software applications available, as OpalRose said.

ResScan is Resmed's "official" software, which is set up for the clinic situation where they have multiple patients. That doesn't mean you can't use it at home, just that it carries a lot of baggage you don't need and it takes a LOT of clicks to get anything done. Navigating the various displays is not as easy or intuitive as SleepyHead but the basic information available is similar. ResScan requires Windows, so if you're running a Mac you will need emulation software to make it run.

SleepyHead was written by a hosehead for hoseheads. It's very intuitive, reasonably fast to load and very easy to navigate once it's up and running. It has versions for Windows and Mac, and a Linux build as well.

I have both on my computer but use SleapyHead 99% of the time.

Thanks OpalRose!
I looked at the Beginner's Guide and SleepyHead looks fantastic.
I downloaded all three installation files and installed them one by one.
But none of them work.
I submitted a detailed bug report on SourceForge, but so far, I have not received any reply.
Can anyone else help with installation issues?

What operating system do you have?

Post your questions here in this forum as to what went wrong as far as it not working, and someone will get back to you.

My operating system is Windows XP Professional.
I installed SleepyHead-OpenGL.exe.
But when I run it I get a message that says “This build of SleepyHead Requires OpenGL2.0 support to function correctly and unfortunately, your computer lacks this capability.”

So, I installed the BrokenGL build. But when I run it, I get this message.
“This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin windows. Reinstalling this application may fix this problem.” Reinstalling didn’t help.

So what can I do?

RE: CPAP Software
Go back into instruction page. Did you choose the correct download?
Use the Automatic Windows installer version.

You may also be missing DLL files. Follow instruction to download.

RE: Can't install SleepyHead
Alan,

Go back to the official download page, here:

http://www.sleepfiles.com/SH2/

That link is at the top right of every forum page. It sounds like you might have used the manual installation method.

If so, then:

1. Delete the SleepyHead files and folders completely.

2. Download the Windows Automatic Installer version (recommended) instead.

3. Double-click that file (SleepyHead-Testing-0.9.8-1-T3-Windows-Installer.exe) after it's fully downloaded and follow the prompts for installation.

That automatic installer version is the most foolproof way to install SleepyHead. A lot of people (if they use the manual installation version) forget to unzip (uncompress) the files and try to run it from within the compressed folder. Or, they move the exe file somewhere and SleepyHead can't find the Qt files since it's been moved to another directory folder.

If you did use that automatic installer version, then perhaps it's not the above explanation and someone else can shed some light on this issue. Thinking-about

EDIT: Your two threads were merged since they were both essentially about the same issue.

Thanks SuperSleeper!
I tried everything you suggested, but I still have the same issues.

When I run SleepyHead-OpenGL.exe I get a message that says “This build of SleepyHead Requires OpenGL2.0 support to function correctly and unfortunately, your computer lacks this capability.”

When I run SleepyHead-BrokenGL.exe, I get this message.
“This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin windows."

Do you have any other suggestions for me?

RE: CPAP Software
I'm no IT expert but is it possible you are missing a dll file?

Windows Users: Missing DLL Files?
If you get a message something like "MSVCR120.dll is missing," you need to install the "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package" available at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/...x?id=40784 Explanation: Some versions of Windows do not have all the necessary files. These files need to be installed with Microsoft's installer, at the link above. The missing files may not always be "MSVCR120.dll", but it will be something similar starting with "MSV" and ending with ".dll".
