[CPAP] Trouble staying asleep

Trouble staying asleep
Hi all, after googling for solutions i've come to this site. I hope someone here can shed some light on my issue.

I've had the CPAP machine for about a week, there are some issues with mask fit and me sleeping on my side or back (as this is a full mask).
My biggest issue is that i just can't stay asleep. Falling asleep is already quite hard for me, and then i often at the point of falling a sleep i don't fall asleep.
Right now i try every night and at some point waking up i just give up and sleep on without the mask. I've had one night (of 6,5 hours) where i had it on the whole night (i felt great that day).

I've gotten the SD card out and used oscar to get the metrics, but apart from what seems the pressure is too low? i don't really know what i'm looking at.

What is weird is that after last night where i had almost no apnea for 4 hours, i feel kind of like a zombie.. compared to a couple of nights before where i got a period of high apnea's and felt fine.

I've combined the oscar printouts in the attachment.

RE: Trouble staying asleep
Welcome to Apnea Board,

I've been where you're at, starting out on PAP. You're doing yourself a disservice by quitting each night. You'll have a mask removal habit to unlearn.

The question is why are you doing this. The answer, it's not comfortable. Solution? Change minimum pressure from 5 to 7, add EPR full time 3. By doing this, you instantly add comfort in exhalation by the EPR (Exhale Pressure Relief). Second, EPR will reduce the shaggy grass looking flow limits. FL is a flow reduction that's an almost Apnea. These aren't timed. They will add discomfort, sleep disruptions, which you don't want.

Final thing, try getting used to the mask and PAP by sitting with it on as during sleep, but watching your TV or reading something, listening to the radio. You need to get used to the PAP feeling.

By getting used to it while awake and editing settings, it should help with mask removal. Very last thought, when you remove the mask next time, count to 10 and put it back on. If not, you're reinforcing that mask removal is a reward.

RE: Trouble staying asleep
An immediate change to EPR on, and set to 3, is a rather abrupt step. You may be fine with that, but if not then bump EPR up only to 1, and go a couple days, and check numbers before adjusting higher.

All nights show you bumping into the upper pressure limit of 10.0. I would adjust the max pressure to 11 cm, and see if that can allow better modulation of the flow limitations.
