I have a Resmed s8 CPAP machine that sounds like a jet turbine when it starts up or shuts down. I have cleaned it out with compressed air and no difference. Is the fan assembly serviceable? Any one have any ideas? Thanks for listening!

RE: resmed s8
Is it making the jet turbine sound while your mask is on your face? All CPAP machines will speed up the motor if turned on while not wearing your mask. This is normal, and it happens because the machine cannot reach the proper pressure until you put your mask on.

This problem occurs only on startup or shutdown. Does not matter if mask is on or off. It is a very noticeable noise. Pressure is maintained as normal. Machine was checked at office. They said it would be an expensive repair.

Dang. Is it under any kind of warranty? Would it be cheaper to buy another?
